Venue Hire

The Durban Botanic Gardens, Africa’s oldest surviving botanic garden, is an ideal green setting for private and corporate functions. All revenue generated from venue hire is managed by the Durban Botanic Gardens Trust.  This forms part of the fundraising mandate of the Trust thus enabling the Trust to donate funds to plant conservation, education programmes and projects within the Durban Botanic Gardens.

The Boardroom

This is a perfect venue for small boardroom meetings or training workshops.

The boardroom can accommodate the following:
Banquet: not optional
Cinema: 20
Classroom: 16
Horseshoe / U-Shape: 15

Conference venue

This versatile venue is suitable for conferences, product launches, workshops, exhibitions and wedding receptions.

The conference venue can accommodate the following:
Banquet: 200
Cinema: 200
Classroom: 120
Horseshoe / U-Shape: 90

Outdoor Venues in the Gardens

Amphitheatre

A beautiful setting for your wedding ceremony or theatre production, tucked away in the Gardens and surrounded by luscious plant life.  This venue can accommodate up to 300 guests.

The Lake

Enjoy your special function under the canopy of majestic, grand, old palms surrounding the Lake.  This is a premier garden space and forms a scenic backdrop for special events including open air concerts.

The Lake area can accommodate up to 800 people in a marquee on the lawn, or 3,500 picnic style for concerts etc.

uMphafa

This is a large multipurpose green space ideal for larger events of up to 7,500 people.

Durban Botanic Gardens Public Events

The Durban Botanic Gardens has hosted a variety of successful public events including local and international concerts, outdoor cinema, outdoor theatre, family friendly events and conservation significant events.  If you are interested in having your event at the Durban Botanic Gardens, please contact our venue hire co-ordinator for an event application form.
